Chaucer's artistic use of astrology in the Knight's tale

About this Digital Document

The primary souce for Chaucer's Knight's Tale was Boccaccio's Teseide, but the English poem differs greatly from the Italian in structure and meaning. Varous theories about the structure, meaning and characterization of the Knight's Tale have been advanced, but one of the most logical analyses is Muscatin's, which generally describes the story as a rich picture of the ordered noble life struggling with the disorder implicit in a complete view of life.
