About this Paged Content
The letter is written on letterhead bearing the address: 3 St. Edmund's Terrace / Regent's Park, NW. See another letter in the collection from Rossetti. Recipient identified and commented on by Mark Samuel Lasner.
Rossetti sends the Kemble autograph as promised, explaining that the note is addressed to his maternal grandfather Gaetano Polidori. In the _Arabian Nights_ volume, Rossetti contends that the poet Leigh Hunt's name was written by Hunt as are all the marks in the volume, "not (as alleged) by Shelley." Henry ("Harry") Buxton Forman was an editor of Keats and Shelley, and a forger -- on his own and in association with Thomas J. Wise. Rossetti was one of the founders of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood which advocated a return to painting unromanticized truth. Rossetti edited the Brotherhood's journal _Germ_ from 1850. His famous family included brother Dante Gabriel and sister Christina.
