Another River Flows : Gathering and Performing Stories of the 4th Street Removal Project

This documentary examines the gathering and performing of stories of the Fourth Street Removal Project. In what began as an effort to capture the history of the African American community in the Lehigh Valley, Touchstone Theatre, in collaboration with the Lehigh Valley Black African Heritage History Project, produced Another River Flows, a play that celebrated the Lehigh Valley's Black Experience. Clips of the June 6, 2008 performance are included. Historian and Project Coordinator for the play, Roberta Meek is interviewed on her research of the Allentown Urban Renewal Project. Specifically, she looks at the civil rights activism that evolved from the Urban Renewal Project from 1960 to the early 1970s. Phyllis Alexander, Cast Member, is interviewed on her involvement in the story gathering process and also production of the play.
