About this Digital Document
The Fall 2022 Sayre Field Development Presentation is a product of the Integrated Learning Experience (ILE) course at Lehigh University. Students participating in this cross-disciplinary, team-based project comprise a 'consulting team' tasked with defining and completing a proposal for enhancing an element of Lehigh University's athletics facilities. Since 2019, ILE students have focused on redeveloping Sayre Playing Fields to enhance this underutilized university asset and turn it into an athletics and recreational hub specifically designed for club teams, intramural teams, and other non-varsity athlete needs. Phase 1 of this project (Fall 2019 team) focused on designing a pedestrian bridge that will create a safe walking connection from lower campus to Sayre Fields. Phase 2 of this project (Fall 2020 and Fall 2021 teams) designed and evaluated a number of enhancements to the Sayre Playing Fields. Outdoor amenities will include grass and turf fields, two basketball courts, a volleyball court, two pickle ball courts, an amphitheater, and outdoor lighting. There are also plans for constructing a new building, which will offer indoor amenities such as an eighth-mile track, cardio space, a weightlifting room, two basketball courts, office space, cafe and lounge space, and men and women's locker rooms.
