Abstract

This study considered the effects of lot size and labor force disposition on the in-process inventory investment of an actual integrated circuit shop. A simulation model written in GASP II includes such shop characteristics as: 1) product cycling or the periodic return by a lot to a given set of facility centers, 2) lot splitting for rework requirements, 3) in-process yields taken from shop operating data, and 4) a workforce which is divided into five labor sections. This model includes labor constraints as well as maching constraints.
