Abstract

The viscoelastic fluid theory of Bernstein, Kearsley, and Zapas is applied to the injection molding process. A theoretical model for the injection of polymer melt into a thin circular disc mold is developed. This development is based upon the assumption of an angularly independent isothermal flow of material into the mold.
