Abstract

The reduction of MnO from a slag by carbon-saturated iron was studied to determine the rate controlling mechanism of the reaction. The first stage of the reaction was initially chemically controlled for the first few minutes of the reaction and then the reaction entered a transition region. The second stage of the reaction was marked by the appearance of a linear relation in the differential time data and was transport controlled.
