Abstract

A method for determining a near-optimal configuration of warehouse locations is developed in view of multi-product requirements. Warehouses and plants are considered to be limited in their capability to produce or process multiple goods, customers are considered to have requirements for multiple products. The cost components of interest are those relating to the distribution of product; namely, fixed and variable costs of warehouse operation and transportation rates.
