Abstract

In this investigation, a study was made on the effect of the rate of cutting fluid application (coolant) on the cutting performance of a carbide cutting tool both in terms of flank tool wear, and surface roughness imparted to the workpiece in a lathe turning operation. Keeping the work material and cutting tool material the same, experiment was performed for various flow rates, at various cutting speeds, with different feeds, and depth of cuts representing both rough and finish type of cuts.
