Radiation is the major mode of heat transfer to the charge in a cement kiln. Four types of radiation are present: 1- surface to surface, 2- surface to gas, 3- gas to surface, and 4- gas to gas. As such four corresponding view factors must be determined. One can determine these view factors if the gas space in the enclosure and the boundary walls are divided into zones.
