Abstract

Most programming languages in current use include procedures for converting decimal numbers to a binary form used for computation. Due to the change in radix, the value of the converted result is, in general, an approximation to the value of its decimal representation. The procedures discussed here are of the minimum-error type, and are used in a compiler environment.
