Abstract

The operation of an air-lift pump, 14 ft. high and 2" in diameter, has been studied. The results show that a present theory based on incompressible flow and including the effects of friction and slip between the gas and liquid accurately predicts the performance characteristics of these devices in shallow submergence applications. Measurement of two-phase friction and slip have been made and correlations are presented.
