Abstract

This thesis represents a phase in a study of the ultimate strength analysis of longitudinally stiffened plate panels. The panels are assumed to be wide enough so that lateral interaction between stiffeners is neglibible, thereby allowing a beam-column approach. Axial and lateral loads are considered, as are residual stresses and plate components which buckle prior to the ultimate condition.
