Apatite was synthesized hydrothermally at temperatures of 800 and 600 degrees celsisus and total pressure of one kilobar. Under these conditions, substitution of magnesium in apatite is limited to less than 1.3 mol per cent. Precipitation of apatite was carried out by titration with solutions of (Ca+Mg)-acetate against solutions of Na2HPO4.
