Abstract

This study investigates one aspect of operator performance on a microminiature inspection task. The hypothesis is that, other things being constant, speed and accuracy of inspection will vary with the level of magnification utilized. Mechanisims are proposed which would indicate that the functions relating speed to magnification and errors to magnification are U-shaped and therefore an optimum level of magnification exists.
