Abstract

The first objective of this research is to study the crystallographic, morphologic, and magnetic properties of the MnSb-Sb eutectic system. The emphasis of the investigation will be aimed at discovering the relation between and importance of the shape and crystalline anisotropies, and also determining how these factors influence magnetic behavior. A second objective is to relate the properties of the magnetic phase of the eutectic to those of the bulk MnSb compound, in an attempt to unravel the contradictions found in the literature.
