Abstract

The influences of notches on the low cycle fatigue life of three pressure vessel steels was studied. The three stels chosen were ASTM designations A201B, A302B, and A517F having low, intermediate, and high strengths respectively. Six notched conditions were tested having theoretical stress concentration factors ranging from 1.44 to 4.5. Cantilever beam specimens were tested under reversed bending, and zero to maximum deflection bending.
