When considering the dynamic response of a system moving through a multidimensional random load field the spacewise variations of the field are often neglected and complete coherence is assumed. It should be noted that the value of the response obtained using this simplified analysis is only approximate. It is the purpose of this presentation to introduce a method to determine whether such an approximation is conservative or not when the spacewise variations are considered and the load field is homogeneous and isotropic.
