Abstract

This investigation developed techniques to simulate, in 3/4 inch test plates cut from actual heavy sections, the coolingrates obtained at the midthickness of water spray-quenched six and twelve inch thick-section plates. Section chemistry was introduced and evaluated. The results revealed that there were no significant variations of mechanical properties or microstructure due to section chemistry.
