Abstract

A computational approach to syntactic analysis is developed to meet the demands of a specific automatic indexing scheme. It is believed that this computational approach to syntactic analysis is economically feasible for automatic indexing systems which require minimal syntactic analysis and can tolerate minor errors. The system's economy lies in its limited dictionary, relatively small number of computational rules and restriction to technical English.
