Abstract

The problem of balancing an assembly line in an industrial situation is that of providing each of a series of work positions with as even and compact an allocation of the total direct work content as possible while observing any restrictions on the sequence of operations imposed by the product or process. A procedure for evaluating the flexibility of a line is proposed.
