Abstract

To ensure maximum utilization of computing facilities and simultaneously strive to minimize the turnaround time of programs received, the priority rules used to schedule programs for running become important. This study investigated the factors pertinent to the turnaround time, described these factors using Monte Carlo methods and mathematical models, linked each model to form the path taken by a computer program from arrival into the queue until its return and considered the resulting model a stochastic system.
