Abstract
A study of the problem of intergranular heat-affected zone cracking of stress relieved pressure vessel steels has suggested that such failures may be stress-rupture fractures. To determine the nature and origin of this cracking a thorough investigation of the stress-rupture properties of low alloy pressure vessel steels has been initiated at Lehigh University under the sponsorship of the Pressure Vessel Research Committee, Fabrication Division.
