Abstract

Man's experience with the process of welding of iron and the fact that today welding is the pricipal industrial method for joining metals, many of the phenomena related to the process are still a mystery. One of the unsolved problems is the rise in the yield-to-tensile ratio obtained when the mechanical properties of wrought material are compared with those of the welded material.
