Abstract

As adsorbents, six different samples of rutile were used, and as organic adsorbates n-butylamine, acetic acid and n-propyl alcohol were chosen because they represented three different species of organic compounds possessing a variety of monofunctionality, namely, a base, an acid and an alcohol. The object of this work was to uncover the tendency toward physical and chemical adsorption as a function of the polar group on the organic and as a function of pigment surface characteristics.
