Image Local History Asa and Sarah Packer Golden Wedding Anniversary Album, January 23, 1878 The Asa and Sarah Packer Golden Wedding Anniversary collection is composed of an impressive wedding album (68 gilt edged unnumbered pages) measuring 40.5 x 33 x 11.5 cm containing black and white photographic portraits of the anniversary couple on the frontispiece, a sample of the reception invitation, and original letters of reply submitted to the organization committee, social calling cards, a newspaper sketch depicting the social event and poetry written for the occasion. The Packers' two sons served on the committee and collected the letters to enter into the album. View Item

Image Sub-Collection Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company Annual Reports After its founding in 1822, the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company (LCNC) became one of the most important companies in the emergence of the American Industrial Revolution for its innovative approach to canal systems, iron production and coal mining. LCNC transported anthracite coal from Mauch Chunk (now Jim Thorpe) to Easton and Philadelphia, reaching New York by the 1830s. Image Archival Collections Photo Album of Hill-to-Hill Bridge Construction The images included in the album show surveyors, the construction site, equipment and workers. Workers at the site are seen looking over blueprints, using surveying equipment, posing together smiling at the camera. The last eleven pages of the album contain photos of the compiler's family and friends during college life, vacations, graduation. Mainly the photographs are attached to both sides of all the pages. The black paper pages are brittle and chipping. There are 223 photographs. View Item

The diaries contain entries about the activities of a person responsible for the daily running of a railroad. Digital versions created by scanning photocopied reproductions of the original diaries.
