About this Paged Content
This publication was compiled in 1957 by the Society of American Historians (www.sah.org) to accompany a tour highlighting the architecture of Bethlehem, Pa. The publication opens with a discussion of Bethlehem's background, its constructed style, and its surrounding areas. The architecturally historical structures in Bethlehem were primarily influenced by the Moravians, while the architectural designs in the areas surrounding Bethlehem have been influenced by the Welsh, Scotch, Irish, and Germans. Maps depicting the location of multiple community structures within Bethlehem are shown throughout the publication. The main designs that are highlighted are located in areas such as West Church Street, East Church Street, Heckewelder Place, Monocacy Creek, North New Street, West Market Street, and Center Street. The historically traditional edifices that compose Bethlehem have added a special quality to this small town.
