About this Image
C.F. Martin & Co. produced 1,976 Model D-76 guitars to commemorate the United States bicentennial. The D-76 was the first Martin limited-edition guitar. It was based on the D-35 and features 13 pearl stars inlaid on the fingerboard and an American Eagle inlaid on the headstock. The V-76 banjo had similar ornamentation, however only 76 were produced under the Vega brand, a company Martin acquired in 1970. C.F. Martin & Co., founded in 1833 and headquartered in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, is the world's oldest surviving producer of guitars and the largest producer of acoustic guitars in the United States.
