C.F. Martin & Co. acquired the Levin Co. in 1973. The company produced Levin and Goya guitars. Martin had many problems with Levin's factory in Sweden and ultimately closed it. Remaining parts, inventory, and the brand were sold in 1981. C.F. Martin & Co., founded in 1833 and headquartered in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, is the world's oldest surviving producer of guitars and the largest producer of acoustic guitars in the United States.
