Image Beyond Steel Advertisement for C.F. Martin & Co. Model O-16 NY "New York Martin" Martin introduced the Model 0-16 New York in the 1960's to address the folk market. The guitar was based on the Martin guitars of the 19th century. "New York" referred to the location of Martin's factory at that time. The guitar was designed to be used with "silk and steel" strings if desired, which consisted of either steel wrapped around a silk core or a steel core wrapped in silk and then wrapped in steel. Many folk artists produced the mellow sound produced by this type of strings. C.F. View Item
