Image Theses and Dissertations Cumulative fatigue damage under randomized loading This thesis presents the results of an experimental investigation to determine the effects of a variable amplitude load program randomly applied to notched butt welded plate specimens. The load program simulated actual service conditions for steel beam highway bridges and the plate specimens duplicated the fabrication method used in joining these beams to form a continuous flange. Image Theses and Dissertations The behavior and strength of bolted shingle splices Bolted shingle joints are currently designed by methods developed for riveted joints in single shear which do not make effective use of the high shear strength of the fasteners. In this study, the results of a series of analytical studies and a complimentary test program examining the strength and behavior of bolted shingle joints are presented. View Item
Image Theses and Dissertations The strength of stud shear connectors in normal and lightweight concrete This report summarizes an extensive study to determine the shear strength and behavior of study shear connectors embedded in normal weight and lightweight concrete slabs. Earlier studies had indicated that various concrete properties and stud sizes influenced the connector behavior and strength. View Item
