Description

The IDEA requires meaningful parental participation in the entire IEP process, including not only in IEP team meetings but also via the other procedural requirements for eligibility determination and placement in the LRE. How can districts establish a collegial atmosphere that values parent views? How can districts thoroughly prepare for IEP meetings without parental perceptions of predetermination arising? The presenters will address the nuts and bolts of these and other practical issues, identifying various examples of potential violations of this fundamental requirement and using a case scenario discussion to stimulate participants in sharing helpful hints.
